Summary

In Life After Life Raymond Moody investigates more than one hundred case studies of people who experienced "clinical death" and were subsequently revived。 First published in 1975, this classic exploration of life after death started a revolution in popular attitudes about the afterlife and established Dr。 Moody as the world's leading authority in the field of near-death experiences。 Life after Life forever changed the way we understand both death—and life—selling millions of copies to a world hungry for a greater understanding of this mysterious phenomenon。

The extraordinary stories presented here provide evidence that there is life after physical death, as Moody recounts the testimonies of those who have been to the "other side" and back—all bearing striking similarities of an overwelming positive nature。 These moving and inspiring accounts give us a glimpse of the peace and unconditional love that await us all。

The way near death experiences are described, it is like psychedelics。 “Life After Life” answers some questions but other questions still remain。 If heaven is a better place, why is suicide and homicide wrong。 The question of life hangs in the light of eternity。 After reading a lot on Freud and his views on spirituality, I can say he was wrong。 Throughout human history, man has always been a spiritual being。 Reading about near death experiences is like psychedelics, if one is true, the other is The way near death experiences are described, it is like psychedelics。 “Life After Life” answers some questions but other questions still remain。 If heaven is a better place, why is suicide and homicide wrong。 The question of life hangs in the light of eternity。 After reading a lot on Freud and his views on spirituality, I can say he was wrong。 Throughout human history, man has always been a spiritual being。 Reading about near death experiences is like psychedelics, if one is true, the other is true。 Reading “Life After Life” verifies my mystical experiences。 There is more to life than our modern philosophy can account for。 。。。more

I liked this book。 Interesting to read about individuals stories of near death/ being pronounced dead and then coming back to life and what they believe to have seen during their experience。

Life After Life by Raymond Moody is a study of various Near Death Experience and written in a very simple straight forward manner。 It's a collection of many NDE and conclusion drawn by the author based on his research of the data (provided by people who had been declared clinically dead at some point in their lives) This book had been comforting as it not only tells you about a life after death or beautiful peaceful realm waiting for us in the end but also how we would be reunited with our loved Life After Life by Raymond Moody is a study of various Near Death Experience and written in a very simple straight forward manner。 It's a collection of many NDE and conclusion drawn by the author based on his research of the data (provided by people who had been declared clinically dead at some point in their lives) This book had been comforting as it not only tells you about a life after death or beautiful peaceful realm waiting for us in the end but also how we would be reunited with our loved ones after leaving our earthly bodies behind。 How no negative thought will follow us in the afterlife。 I had an amazing experience reading this book and knowing that whatever it says has been felt/lived by someone around the globe。 。。。more

I tend to agreeThis book have me hope, enlightenment and sincere hope for more information。 I will have to read the next book on this subject and maybe read an alternate opinion on this subject。 This is well written and very informative。

4。5 I remember my mom reading this book when I was young and having discussions about it around the dinner table。 It actually brought me a lot of comfort having her share excerps from this book。 So 40+ later it was fun to pick it up again and read it for myself。 I read the book 'After' right before this, but I enjoyed the concise nature of this book more。 4。5 I remember my mom reading this book when I was young and having discussions about it around the dinner table。 It actually brought me a lot of comfort having her share excerps from this book。 So 40+ later it was fun to pick it up again and read it for myself。 I read the book 'After' right before this, but I enjoyed the concise nature of this book more。 。。。more

This book is a wonderful read if you are grieving the loss of loved ones, no matter how long ago they passed on。

It's a really nice book with lot of thinking put into it。 Because it's an ancient book it's missing many of the never finding from neuroscience。 It's a really nice book with lot of thinking put into it。 Because it's an ancient book it's missing many of the never finding from neuroscience。 。。。more

Interesting and informative I especially find it believable when I read that the person having the NDE sees relatives in other rooms and gives accurate accounts of what they were doing: crying, praying, etc。 that seems to happen frequently and is very convincing。

this is a book I will keep Published in 1975, this book doesn’t claim to do anything but compile and observe the similarities in these experiences shared by the people who had them。 It does not favor any particular religion, or philosophy。 It does address, those who believe it is a grand hallucination of a drugged, or oxygen starved brain。 It made me think of my mother’s last moments and gave me hope for many others。

Maureen

Read this when it was first published and a recent post by a GR friend reminded me of it and a few others。 Interesting。

Couldn’t put this down, I was doing quite a bit of research online about this topic and decided to read the OG of nde’s。 In the years following this book- the similarities in NDEs posted online are incredibly similar still。

A great summary of commonalities between hundreds of experiences with near death。 Written from the perspective of a medical doctor。 While obviously life after death cannot be scientifically proven, Moody shares all the facts that lead to this conclusion being very likely。 Experiences shared from religious and non-religious individuals。

I lost my brother about a month ago and needed reassurance that he was in a good place now。 This brought me hope。

Had I known it, I would have started the book from the ending。 What I enjoyed the most were his explanations to the most frequent questions asked about the reliability of his research which you can find at almost the end of the book。 One of the answers that shocked me the most was when he said: Why would anyone, having been so close to an experience of death, lie about it after having the chance to come back?

。。。more

This book has been a great comfort to me。 Last month I lost my mum to a rare and aggressive cancer just six weeks after diagnosis, and our lives have been completely turned upside-down。 I’m 24, my mum had just days turned 52。 Not only is she my mum, she is my best friend, and I can’t even really begin to describe that pain, the big aching hole in the middle of everything。 That’s where this book really came to help me, extending a hand over the chasm。 My mum and I have always been very spiritual– This book has been a great comfort to me。 Last month I lost my mum to a rare and aggressive cancer just six weeks after diagnosis, and our lives have been completely turned upside-down。 I’m 24, my mum had just days turned 52。 Not only is she my mum, she is my best friend, and I can’t even really begin to describe that pain, the big aching hole in the middle of everything。 That’s where this book really came to help me, extending a hand over the chasm。 My mum and I have always been very spiritual–spiritual, not religious–believing in the soul, its existence apart from the physical body, and some place we go after our physical lives on earth。 Professor Moody’s book is truly fascinating: drawing from over 500 near-death experiences (he actually coined the term) and quoting approximately 150, it indicates the stages we go through on the brink of death。 No matter the cause of death (evidently before resuscitation) in the cases explored here, it’s incredible how many of the same features crop up in each testimony。 Moody is careful–he’s a medical doctor and psychiatrist–to signpost his thesis with evidence, to meet any and all resistance with evidence, which I really respected and which ultimately made me feel quite at peace。 I know my mum is still with me, and I know I’ll see her again。 If you’ve lost anyone close to you, or are simply just interested in the topic, then I highly recommend this book。 。。。more

Interesting anecdotal stories。 You can see the trends in people that are clinically dead, and draw your own conclusions about what that means。 It can either be a mentally settling or upsetting experience, depending on your reason for opening this book in the first place。 Very short and accessible book, and worth the time for those interested in matters of death。

One of the first books that influenced my way of thinking about death and near-death experiences at a very young age (I was 10 when I read it)。I'm thankful for the perspective it gave me which played a major part in shaping who I am today。It sparked a new way of thinking in me that set the foundations for the rest of my life。 One of the first books that influenced my way of thinking about death and near-death experiences at a very young age (I was 10 when I read it)。I'm thankful for the perspective it gave me which played a major part in shaping who I am today。It sparked a new way of thinking in me that set the foundations for the rest of my life。 。。。more

Nice compilation of near death experiences and glimpses into the aferlife。 I didn’t finish but I LOVED the explanation of a sort of judgement experience - more of a seeing life experiences, and being asked if it choices were worth it knowing what you now know, while feeling complete love through it all。

I lost my dad suddenly a month ago。 I have been voraciously reading all things related to death, dying, the afterlife, the spiritual realm … etc, etc。 I feel like he’s lost and I’m searching for him everywhere。 This has been my favorite thus far。

More for sceptics than believers。 Not worth your time if you already believe in spirit world/near death experiences。

Very eye opening and informative。 As someone who is very logical, this book succeeded in convincing me about the existence of "life after life," and it makes me feel hopeful about this life。 One down side of it is that I wish the author provides more statistics from his research results。 Very eye opening and informative。 As someone who is very logical, this book succeeded in convincing me about the existence of "life after life," and it makes me feel hopeful about this life。 One down side of it is that I wish the author provides more statistics from his research results。 。。。more

I read this book many years ago and found it so fascinating。 As I read this book I wasn’t surprised with what the author was discussing。 My personal beliefs align with many what the author learned about in his study of NDE’s。 The passing from this life and our continued progress we experience in our spirit is part of our Heavenly Fathers’ plan for us ALL。
